The Presentation box opens to show the doll sewn into the bottom of the box with clothing and more articles of clothing in white and pink sewn onto the lid. The lid is held in place with a single pink ribbon that runs from lid to bottom tray. The lid includes undergarments, an additional summer dress and another items. Right:The lid of the Helene Presentation box shows the delicate flowers painted on the satin material with her name written in gold paint. Perhaps this name was also the name of the owner of the doll. Below: The bottom of the box includes the doll, two extra outfits, a cape, hat and pair of opera glasses. Bottom right: The little girl has glass eyes, closed mouth and painted on black shoes with two straps. Her blonde mohair wig is original and she is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. The glass eyes are accentuated with the eye lashes that surround the eyes. Her mohair wig holds its original curls. The 4-inch all bisque French girl with her very large glass eyes is dressed in pink and all the accessories and outfits sewn into the box match this color palette. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. Her mark is not visible and we choose not to disturb her from her box to try to find a mark. Her large eyes and swivel neck are some of the characteristics of all bisque dolls made in France. These untouched sets were perhaps old store stock or belonged to a little girl who dared not play with it but put it aside for safe keeping. Today they are snapshots of the past showing us the fashions and accessories of the day. (All dolls from the collection of the author) DOLL NEWS * UFDC.ORG 109http://ufdc.org
