Vogue Jill and Jan: Jill was all hard plastic when released in
1957. Her vinyl sister Jan came out in 1959. The last Jills, the
all-vinyl Historyland series, were made in 1965.
Jill and Jan shoe identification information is from the
Collectors Encyclopedia of Vogue Dolls Identification and Values.
●	 Earlier shoes had cardboard layered soles with hard
plastic heels and an elastic crisscross joined by a rhinestone.
The lining sometimes matches the outfit fabric.
●	 Another early shoe style had a rick rack or metallic
braid strap over the toes with a hard-plastic base.
Later vinyl styles:
●	 Closed toes and plain strap over arch of foot, hard or
soft vinyl (chart #13).
●	 Plain band over open toes and ankle strap, hard vinyl.
(chart #14).
●	 Wedge heel with plain band over open toes, hard
vinyl. (chart #15).
●	 Classic high heel with plain band over open toes, hard
vinyl. (chart #16).
Cloth boots or skates for Jill and Jan had flat soles with a
separate inside vinyl wedge to go under the heel (chart #17).
The vinyl shoes are all basically sandal styles, open
at the sides. High heels with open or closed toes and
enclosed sides and back are often attributed to Jill but are
not identified as hers in the Izen book. This needs further
research. The later Miss Jill and following dolls, not covered
in this article, did have low-heel pumps.
Woolworths' Circle P Miss Marie: Circa 1958-1959. Two
examples are shown in Zillner's Dolls and Accessories of the
1950s, mint-in-box, with the tiny bow slip-ons.

models her shoes which are also sold separately by
Dollspart Supply Company.

1950s-1960s shoes sold separately

PMA (Plastic Molded Arts) hard plastic Miss Joan: Miss
Joan as a mint-in-box basic doll in lingerie wears shoes with
the double bow, 8=8 design. Surprisingly, even though she is
almost two inches taller, at 31mm her shoes are barely larger
than the 30mm 10 ½-inch doll shoes of the same design. In
addition to this mint-in-box example from my collection, the
identical doll as a brunette is shown in Polly and Pam Judd's
Hard Plastic Dolls, II.

Dolshoe Doll Shoes: Made by B.L. Custer Co. of
Marietta, Georgia, these shoes were sold separately
to fit 10 ½-inch dolls (and larger). Vinyl shoes came
in a small acrylic box with the company information
on an insert, had a very distinctive design, and were
marked on the insole, "Dolshoes." The company
appears in the 1948 Official Gazette of the United
States Patent Office list of registrants of trademarks
as a maker of infants' and children's hosiery. They
obviously expanded into doll items and made
stockings and gloves as well as other accessories.

Sears Walking Grown-Up: The 1957 Sears Christmas
catalog shows a 12-inch doll with a vinyl head and hard
plastic body with bending knees. Her shoes look like the
style with a single removable bow that clips over scalloped
side half-circles.

Jeanstyles: This is the brand name used on doll shoes
found in their original packaging and made by S.B.
Novelty Co. The name of the company is on each
shoe package insert. It made many styles in many
sizes, but for the 10 ½-inch dolls I have seen:
