be unsalvageable. To be clear, this is a consulting opportunity. This is NOT the time to bring your projects,
but rather consult with a professional about the direction you should go with it. Doctors often specialize
in certain areas (bisque, composition, plastic, vinyl for instance) so it is important they match you with the
right doctor. Did you know that you can join the association without being a working doll doctor? Maybe
you want to simply learn about techniques to work on your own dolls. More information about the Doll
Doctors Association will be on hand and you don't have to sign up beforehand for either Publisher's
Preview or to see the doll doctors.
Junior Collectors will enjoy a week full of fun planned by Co-Coordinators Erica Cruz and Kim
McIntyre. Their week will kick off with a Meet and Greet event, followed by the Ice Cream Social. Two
crafty workshops are scheduled which include Make a Matching Tote Bag for You and Your Doll and Make
a Special Convention T-shirt for Your Doll. Juniors will enjoy guided tours of the Special Exhibits and the
Competitive Exhibits. The main junior event will be held Thursday afternoon with a Pajama Party theme!
Wear your favorite PJs, get comfy on the floor with pillows and blankets and enjoy a fun time with lots
of food, drink, and dolls. Then join the adults later that evening at the UFDC FUNdraising Committee's
Beach Party, complete with DJ!
The Competitive Exhibit is a tremendous educational opportunity as well as well as a room full of eye
candy! Enter your dolls in the competition and you might just take home a ribbon. Study the dolls to learn
more about the various categories and enjoy a highlight tour to better understand what the judges are
looking for. Consider volunteering to monitor the exhibit. It's fun to listen to the doll chatter in the room.

Special Exhibit Chair Kathleen Allen welcomes you to the wide array of doll topics on display this
year. The Charm City Dolling Club is celebrating 25 years as a UFDC club and will have a Special Exhibit
showcasing dolls of color and the wonderful collectors who treasure them. It's sure to be a terrific tribute
to this club from our Convention host region - Region 11. Additional Special Exhibits include a sensational
display by Samy Odin titled The Artistry of Dina Velluti, a post WWII Italian Doll Maker. Lynn Delisle
of Region 14's Broome County Doll Club in New York will display some of her outstanding collection
of Galoob Baby Face Dolls. Region 11's Best Friends Forever Doll Club will delight attendees with their
collection of BJDs by artist and sculptor Kaye Wiggs. The
Schoenhut Collectors' Club will assemble a spectacular
exhibit of Schoenhut dolls. Thank you to these volunteers
for bringing your dolls to Baltimore to create the Special
Exhibits.
Throughout the week you'll want to be sure to visit
the Helper room, an event that helps defray the costs of
convention and is an opportunity for attendees to take home
a doll or doll-related treasure. All items were donated by
generous UFDC members.
There will be plenty of other activities going on at
convention including programs by subject matter experts
and Dynamic Doll Dialogues for just two examples. We've
made the decision not to host formal tours of Baltimore,
however, we've arranged for the travel guide Visit Baltimore
to go into attendees' tote bags. That way, members can
explore this great city in smaller groups and at their leisure
and comfort level.
