The hat and hair on this man is molded and painted much like the other dolls. This man has a cloth hat that is glued onto his head. It appears that he had nose damage which has been painted over. These three Greek men share many of the same features as the other Kontis dolls and were either made by Kontis or at least were strongly influenced by his work. The two tallest men are 12-inches in height. Instead of solid bodies, they have all wire armature with unusually large oddly-shaped hands. The design of the shoes on the two larger dolls is the same as on the smaller Evzone soldier. Called tsarouchi, the traditional Greek shoes are leather with upturned toes and woolen pompoms. The shoes here are molded and painted. The smaller Greek man is even more of a character. He carries the remains of a stick with two buckets at either end and has curved hands of a composition type material as opposed to the two larger men's hands that are curved cloth. He has a wonderful molded and painted moustache. DOLL NEWS * UFDC.ORG 121http://ufdc.org
