The bodice and
stovepipe hat were
from patterns I
made based on
the movie, Emma.

decorated with flowers, feathers and a ribbon. An
overdress for evening wear was made from rose silk.
The British Victoria and Albert Museum website
has a rich collection of period clothing that I always
enjoy exploring. An example of a Regency dress posted
there served as an inspiration for the red silk dress I
made, with trimmed V-bodice and embroidered hem,
combining ribbon flowers and silk ribbon flower buds.
For outdoor wear, I made a red velvet coat using
coat pattern Number Thirty-Two by Sirkis and a
matching bonnet. The coat has simulated fur made by
needle-felting the wool onto felt strips. The muff was
made in a similar fashion.
Costuming is a way to really get an insight into the
way people lived at a particular time in history, and a
way to enjoy our dolls.
