techniques. I began to study the works of all these artists, leaving
me with the desire to own an example from each one. My Little
Darling quest had begun!   
Because of my newfound love of these dolls and wanting to
learn more about them, my research led me to some interesting
facts about their creator, renowned artist, Dianna Effner. In
college, while studying art and sculpture, Dianna discovered that
the realistic portrayal of one's subject was quite out of fashion.
She later had to develop these skills on her own but luckily for
all of us, she had a penchant for absorbing new techniques and
in the late seventies began sculpting porcelain dolls for a doll
company in Illinois. After mastering porcelain, she turned her
attention to vinyl, further enhancing her unique eye design. She
began to share her doll painting techniques with other artists and
allowed them to create their own versions of her lovely dolls,
always providing instruction, inspiration and encouragement to
