Some of the dolls shown here do not have headpieces
although surely all were introduced with them. As the factory
attached the headpieces with double backed tape, after being
played with and the passage of about eighty years, it is lucky
that so many of the headpieces are still intact.

CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: These two outfits appear
to be Polish folk costumes. The boy is missing a black
hat. The girl's costume is complete and all original.
Both have the hard rubber arms.

This boy wears a ceremonial Highlander festival
costume from the region of Podhale in Southern
Poland. The photo was found on polish

These ladies' dresses represent southern Polish
regional festival attire. Photo found on etnograficzna.pf.

General information regarding Butin-Nose:
*	Shoes: They are black for the international dolls and white
or pastel for the Patsy-type outfits. All are leatherette
tie shoes with the exception of those on the Dutch, who
wore clogs.
	Clothing
Tags: Although the Patsy-type dresses have a cloth
*
tag sewn into the outside back of the waist seam, only one
international doll with any tag at all has been seen.
*	Underwear: The dolls wearing dresses, both long and
short, wear white slip and panty combinations or short
teddies of the same fabric as the dress.
	Closures
on the clothing: The closures vary from tiny
*
straight pins, stitching, to none at all.
	Boxes:
Four different boxes have been seen for this doll:
*
1) those made and marked Betty Butn-Nose, 2) those
marked for Patsy Tinyette, 3) a generic Effanbee box with
a large applied turquoise and yellow label, and 4) a box
marked The Authentic White Horse Inn//Tyrolean Doll
which is also stamped " Betty Butn-Nose " with a color and
a style number. Almost all the boxes have a style number,
but nothing has been found to coordinate this number
with the doll in the box.
Such is the life, until now, of Effanbee's cute little
funny-face.
