HISTORIC WALKING TOUR Photography by: Dero Sanford The oil boom of the 1920s provided an incredible amount of wealth and population growth that was supported through the construction of theaters, churches, public buildings, and private structures. Many of these historic buildings have been preserved and are open to the public. El Dorado has almost two dozen listings on the National Register of Historic Places. Most are within a short walk of one another. Scan the QR code to discover more about our celebrated past and download a map of the Historic Downtown Walking Tour. The Rialto Theater opened in 1929 with seating for 1,400, originally presenting both live stage shows and movies. The theater is currently closed for renovation and will be included in Phase 2 of the Murphy Arts District expansion. www.GoElDorado.com 33
