four. Moreover, the impedance and position of the grounding
system are also different. Because the train model is a critical
factor of this method, the following differences should be
noted when the method is applied to other types of trains:
◗ Resistance, numbers, and length of train bodies.
◗ Resistances and locations of protective and working
earthing.
Applied to Varied Operation Environment of
Trains
The characteristics of PCA will be affected by the running
environment of trains. For example, the unstable route will
aggravate the PCA generation, and the moist or dry air will
change the radiation characteristics of the PCA. Therefore,
it is necessary to consider the environmental factors in PCA
modeling.
Applied to Other Electrical Equipment on Trains
This method can be used not only to analyze EMI on the speed
sensor, but also to study the interference on other electrical
equipment, such as digital encoders, LED displays, and temperature
sensors. The following issues need to be noted:
◗ Connection position and mode of equipment.
◗ The electrical structure of equipment and its relationship
with the power supply of the whole train.
◗ Some devices cannot be nested with magnetic rings to
suppress interference, so the special electromagnetic
shielding coating should be considered.
Conclusion
We have provided a comprehensive research method of EMI
generated by the PCA on speed sensors for the safety of highspeed
trains. Some of the open research problems have been
outlined, including those related to practical measurement
and application of this method. In addition, this method has
been applied and verified on a typical high-speed train in
China. Based on the method, the research and suppression of
EMI caused by the PCA on train equipment can be applied to
other types of trains and electrical equipment. Significantly,
the biggest challenge in applying the method will be to grasp
all of the key factors of the method in different application
situations.
