whereby the standard deviations are mentioned with respect
to the values obtained from the EMV.
Conclusion
This work encompasses a completely integrated and automated
Electro-Microfluidic Viscometer (EMV), having a
microchannel with embedded copper electrodes, and fabricated
in a single step using a benchtop dual extruder 3D
Printer. The automation was accomplished using a microcontroller,
in-house made PCB as motherboard, pumping
parts, motor drivers and display unit. The developed EMV
device mimics the traditional Ostwald viscometer and is
able to measure viscosity of the test fluid within a minute.
The EMV has been demonstrated to measure viscosity of the
biological fluids such as Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), Human
Serum Albumin (HSA) and Lysozyme before and after
denaturation. With ∼US$ 20 cost to develop a single EMV
platform, it can measure viscosity in the window 0.5 cP to
10 cP with ±96% accuracy. In the similar fashion, the proposed
device can be employed to measure the viscosity of
the biological fluids, which can be used for varied diagnostics
applications.
