Markos Paulo Cardoso is currently doing Ph.D. degree
research in electrical engineering with emphasis on telecommunications
at Federal University of Pará, Belém, Brazil, in
collaboration with Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering,
Technology and Science, Porto, Portugal. His research
interests include the design and simulation of optical fiber
sensors. He earned a degree in electrical engineering in 2016,
followed by an M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering with emphasis
on telecommunications in 2017, both from the Federal
University of Pará, Belém, Brazil.
Anderson Oliveira Silva is currently an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Electronics at the Federal Center for Technological
Education Celso Suckow da Fonseca, Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. His main areas of research include plasmonics and corresponding
applications at optical and Terahertz spectra and
computational electromagnetism. He received a degree in
electrical engineering from Federal University of Pará, Belém,
Brazil in 2006, the M.Sc. degree from University of Sao Paulo,
Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering
from Federal University of Para, Belém, Brazil, in
2014.
Amanda de Freitas Romeiro is currently pursuing her degree
in telecommunications engineering from the Federal University
of Pará, Belém, Brazil. She became a member of the
Applied Electromagnetism Laboratory in 2017, and since then,
her research interests are design and simulation of optical fibers
sensors.
Maria Thereza M. Rocco Giraldi is a Full Professor with
the Military Institute of Engineering, Brazilian Army, Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil. She has been involved in the fields of optical
communication and sensors, more specifically with
optical devices and systems, free-space optics communications,
optical amplifiers, and fiber sensors. Prof. Giraldi is
the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics
and Electromagnetic Applications, published by the Brazilian
Microwave and Optoelectronics Society and the Brazilian
Electromagnetics Society.
Joao Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque Costa is a Professor with
the Institute of Technology at Federal University of Pará,
Belém, Brazil and is a Researcher with the Brazilian Research
Funding Agency National Council for Scientific and Technological
Development, Brasília, Brazil. His current research
interests include broadband systems and optical sensors. He
received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the
Federal University of Pará, Belém, Brazil in 1981, the M.Sc.
degree in electrical engineering from the Pontifical Catholic
University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1989, and
the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the State University
of Campinas, Campinas, Brazil, in 1994. He is Senior
Member of IEEE.
José Luís Santos is Professor in the Physics and Astronomy
Department of Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto, Portugal
and is Researcher with Center of Applied Photonics of
the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology
and Science, Porto, Portugal. He received a degree in
physics from University of Porto, Portugal in 1983 and earned
the Ph.D. degree in 1993, benefiting from a collaboration with
the Applied Optics Group of University of Kent, UK, headed
by Professor David Jackson. He earned Habilitation in 2008
from the University of Porto. His main research interests are
related with optical fiber sensing and optical fiber technology.
José Manuel Baptista is Associate Professor with Aggregation
in the Faculty of the Exact Sciences and Engineering of the University
of Madeira, Portugal, and he is also Senior Researcher
at the Center of Applied Photonics of the Institute for Systems
and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science, Porto,
Portugal. His main scientific areas are fiber optic sensors, fiber
optic communications and fiber optic technologies. He
earned a degree in electrical and computer engineering from
the University of Porto, Portugal in 1991, followed by the M.Sc.
degree in physics of laser communications from the University
of Essex, UK in 1993. He then he obtained the Ph.D. degree
in electrical and computer engineering from the University of
Porto, Portugal, in 2002.
Ariel Guerreiro is an Associate Professor and is also Senior Researcher
in the Optoelectronics and Electronics Systems Unit
at Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology
and Science, Porto, Portugal. He was the Director of the
graduation course in physics at the University of Porto between
2013 and 2016. His main scientific areas are quantum
and nonlinear optic, nanoplasmonics and their application in
optical sensing. He received a degree in physical engineering
from the Technical University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal in
1998 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in physical engineering at
the same university in 2004.
