The " Read our Videos-Watch our Papers " Initiative of the
IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine
and Video Tutorial Program
W
e are glad to publish, in this issue of the Instrumentation
& Measurement Magazine (IMM) a
collection of contributions from an initiative between
the Magazine and the Video Tutorial program of the
Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
The initiative is named " Read our Videos-Watch our Papers, "
and it aims at collecting contributions from speakers
who already recorded Video Tutorials for the Society. The
video collection can be found at https://ieee-ims.org/vtprogram,
where about thirty videos have been collected so far.
The papers published in this issue are twins to some videos we
have in the I&M collection. We believe that this is a valuable
oppportunity to improve the impact of both the videos and
the corresponding papers. The action is intended to work both
ways, and papers published in this issue are the first group of
contributions we have collected so far. I do thank the authors
for collaborating in this effort. The initiative has not concluded,
of course, and I hope that both the videos and number
of papers will grow in the near future. We encourage interested
authors to propose videos to the Video Tutotial Progam and
corresponding papers to the IMM, so that we can consider the
contribution as part of the initative.
The initiative was actually lauched before the COVID'19
pandemic, and after initially stopping, we started reorganizing
our procedures for video recording. As matter of fact, some
of the contributions you can read in this issue were recorded
during the pandemic. I believe that one of the effects of the COVID'19
pandemic will be our awareness of the ever-growing
importance of unconvential educational tools, such as the videos
the Instrumentation and Measurement Society produces.
This is one of the reasons why I believe that this initiative can
contribute to the " I&M culture. "
This first installment of papers consists of five contributions,
which were recorded starting in May 2019, while the
newest ones were recorded in the fall of 2021. It was over a
long time, but, as I remembered above, things have changed
a lot in the last year, and we tried to take advantage of the
difficulties.
More specifically, the following contributions are published
in this issue :

Challenges of Wireless Sensor Networks " by Luca
Lombardo, and
◗ " Charge and Current Measuring Electronics for BioMedical
Applications " by Marco Carminati
I hope the readers, starting with these titles, will get a grasp
of the variety of different topics that are of interest for the society
and of the videos that may be enjoyed on the Video Tutorial
webpage. Please note that, to make things easier, each paper
comes with a direct link to the webpage.
