Kurt Barbé (Senior Member, IEEE) is an Associate Professor
with the Biostatistics and Medical Informatics Research
Group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium,
where he is founder of the university core facility SQUARE
providing support for quantitative studies. He is also a collaborator
at the University Hospital in the Department
of Radiotherapy and is a member of the Brussels AI-lab
and the UZ-B research group on Artificially Intelligence
Supported Modelling in Clinical Sciences. His research interests
include numerical methods for time series analysis
as well as machine learning methods for massive and high
dimensional data problems, applied to various medical applications
in both preclinical biomedical as well as clinical
sciences. Barbé was a recipient of the IEEE IMS Outstanding
Young Engineer Award in 2011 and the Andi Chi Best Paper
Award of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement
in 2013. He currently serves as VP Publications of
the IMS.
