AmericAn AssociAtion of orthodontists foundAtion REpORT the AAO FOUNDATION AWARDS A t the March meeting of the AAOF BOD, after a review of the recommendation of the Foundation’s Planning and Awards Review Committee (PARC), the Directors approved funding for 10 Biomedical Research Awards (BRA), 11 Orthodontic Faculty Development Fellowship Awards (OFDFA), one Postdoctoral Fellowship Award (PFA), one Center Award (CA), and three Research Aid Awards (RAA) for an aggregate of $605,000, which constitutes the 2013 Awards Program. Approved for funding within the PCSO were: Biomedical Research Awards Snehlata Oberoi, University of California San Francisco, $25,000 Heesoo Oh, University of the Pacific, $25,000 Orthodontic Faculty Development Fellowship Awards Raquel Teresa Capote, University of Washington, $15,000 – Orhan C. Tuncay Teaching Fellowship Award Christine Hong, University of California Los Angeles, $15,000 – Willie & Earl Shepard Fellowship Award; this designation is given annually to the most meritorious OFDFA proposal. Joorok Park, University of the Pacific, $15,000 – Robert M. Ricketts Sunflower Orthodontics Fellowship Award Postdoctoral Fellowship Award Siddharth R. Vora, University of Washington, $100,000 Research Aid Award Andrea Feather, Western University of Health Sciences, $5,000 The 2014 Awards Program is an aggregate of $650,000 and includes funding in all the categories approved for 2013, including awards for current residents, part-time faculty, full-time faculty (ranging from junior faculty to midcareer) and others.
