with the California Attorney General, the Dental
Board of California (DBC), the California Department of Consumer Affairs, and state legislators
that point to the methods of these companies as
the unlicensed practice of dentistry and has asked
regulatory bodies to take action to protect California consumers. CAO members should encourage
harmed consumers to report issues to the DBC.
Communication is ongoing with the DBC to stay
updated on their awareness and action surrounding direct-to-consumer transactions.
Management/Staffing
The transition to C2AM as CAO's management
company was official as of April 1. Michelle
Pierceall is now serving as CAO's executive
director. The new management team is focusing
on building relationships, increasing communication, and improved reporting and member experiences. You can reach Michelle at mpierceall@

Audit
The CAO received a clean audit from the annual
review.
Website
Many improvements are underway with the CAO
website. Topping the list of improvements are online ordering for brochures and event registration.
Continuing Education
Mark your calendar and plan to attend "Social
Media and the Orthodontic Practice" on September 6, 2019. This half-day course on using social
media to grow your practice features Drs. Dovi
Prero, Sheldon Salins, and Kyle Fagala and will
be held in Irvine, California. Registration will be
online at www.caortho.org for CAO doctors and
their staff teams (registration is $75.)
Peer Review Calibration Workshop
Save the date to attend the next Peer Review
Calibration Workshop on November 8, 2019. The
session will run from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm and will
be held in Riverside, California. Additional details

We will be filling two board positions this fall, and
the nominating committee is seeking interested

Hawaii
On March 14, 2019, the Hawaii
Society of Orthodontists (HSO)
enjoyed a full-day seminar sponsored by Ormco Corporation. Dr.
Mark Coreil lectured on "Aesthetic Orthodontics."
Many members attended his full-day presentation.
Hawaii orthodontists look forward to hosting all
PCSO members October 3 to 5, 2019, at the Hilton
Hawaiian Village for the PCSO and RMSO joint
Annual Session.
HSO will complete the year with our annual business meeting in the fall of 2019.

Idaho
On June 14, the Idaho State Orthodontic Society was proud to host
lecturer Charles Loretto at the
Idaho State Dental Association
Annual Session in Boise, Idaho. The number of
attending orthodontists is up from recent years,
which is encouraging! Outreach for membership involvement and American Association of
Orthodontists Political Action Committee contributions has continued as we are striving for a
bright future.
