Report, Summer 2019
During the 2019 American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Annual Session that was held
in Los Angeles, California, the American Board
of Orthodontics (ABO) offered an Open House/
Info Sessions, which were very well attended
and provided a great opportunity for discussion.

Directors and staff were available to answer
questions on the new scenario-based oral clinical
examination. In addition, an informational ABO
booth was located outside the exhibit hall to display educational materials available to board-certified orthodontists.
The ABO directors for the 2019-2020 year are as
follows:

Dr. Valmy Kulbersh, President-Elect, representing the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists
Dr. David Sabott, Secretary/Treasurer,

Dr. Patrick Foley, Director, representing the
Midwestern Society of Orthodontists
Dr. Timothy Trulove, Director, representing
the Southern Association of Orthodontists
Dr. Jae Park, Director, representing the Pacific

Dr. Roberto Hernandez-Orsini, representing
the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists
Dr. Larry Tadlock, Immediate Past President,
representing the Southwestern Society of
Orthodontists
The AAO House of Delegates confirmed Dr.
Stephen K. McCullough as the new ABO director
representing the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists.

awards during the 2019 Annual Session meeting:

The ABO is pleased to announce the following

ABO Clinical Examination Update
The first scenario-based oral clinical examination
was conducted in February 2019. The next examination, which will be held in November 2019,
is currently full. Registration for the three 2020
examinations will open May 22, 2019. For insight

Traditional case-based clinical examinations were
also conducted in February 2019 and will again be
offered in June 2019.
The list below is composed of 22 exam candidates
who all passed the February scenario-based exam
on February 20-22, 2019, in St. Louis, Missouri.
