The anterior cant was almost correct, but the
mandibular dental midline was still shifted to the
left. The patient reported no discomfort during
treatment, despite the accelerated exchange rate
of three days per aligner. However, she reported
slight tenderness for about 24 hours immediately
after the MOP procedure. The MOPs in the cortical plate completely healed over with no visual
evidence that it had been done. A notable benefit
of MOP was the ability to significantly accelerate
tooth movement while reducing the risk of root
resorption,6 as demonstrated in the final radiograph (Figure 13). Closer inspection showed that
the bone has remodeled nicely around the new
root positions with no loss in bone height. The
final TMJ tomographic rendering showed that the
left condyle was positioned farther anteriorly in
the joint space, potentially because of the correction of the malocclusion (Table 2 and Figure 14).
The patient reports fewer headaches and less TMJ
clicking, although there is still an occasional click.
