Take the time and make the effort to build team
rapport and communication throughout the year.

Review the day in a morning huddle and see
how best to use your time during the day.
Then come together for end-of-the-day remarks: What worked well today? What areas
to we need to improve?
Conduct periodic team meetings to review
stats and keep the team all on the same page.
Share successes, review monthly stats and areas that reflect efficiencies and effectiveness.
Meet for quarterly committee meetings; each
department brings updated information to
the full team meeting.
Have fun; do regular team events for shared
camaraderie. The team that plays together
stays together!
Review team members yearly (not tied in with
financial increases); discuss areas of high skill
and areas that need more attention.
Plan for a yearly team retreat/planning meeting: make the time to review the previous
year's stats as you create new yearly goals and
ways to implement these into the practice.
7. Essential Time Management Strategies
▫▫ Start your day with a clear focus. The first
work-related activity of your day should be to

determine what you want to achieve that day
and what you absolutely must accomplish
(morning huddle meeting).
Have a dynamic task list; each team member
should have a to-do list: (1) When patients/
parents are present and (2) when it is a nonpatient day.
Focus on high-value activities matching up
with your monthly goals.
Minimize interruptions such as cell phones,
emails/texts, and excessive socializing.
Stop procrastinating: get the difficult projects
and tasks out of the way early in the day.
Limit multitasking: this can often backfire on
us if we try to tackle too many things at one
time versus staying focused on one or two key
tasks to completion.
Review your day to see how you did and what
needs to be done tomorrow.
Remember to use these options: delete, declutter, delegate, defer it, and/or do it.
