Angle Pearls Broken Retainer Repair (In the Mouth) A few simple steps can repair a broken removable retainer: 1. Remove a bit of acrylic on the broken surface to give room for the light cure acrylic, and sandblast the broken pieces where acrylic will be added (A). 2. Place both parts in the mouth and mold the acrylic in the break (B and C); light cure the acrylic (D). 3. Smooth the surfaces of the repair; polish when necessary (E and F). 4. Try the repaired retainer in the mouth to make sure it fits (G and H). Dr. Earl Johnson San Francisco, CA Sandblast Light Cure 68 PCSO Bulletin Winter 2019
