molars for possible extraction. Total treatment
time for this case was 20 months. The total
number of appointments was 22, including appointments for bonding, debonding, archwire
check, and power chain change. There were
no emergencies in this treatment. For esthetic
reasons, an enameloplasty of maxillary anterior teeth (U3-3) was performed right after
debonding but before the manufacturing of

Treatment Results
Anterior normal overbite and overjet were
achieved, while crowding on the maxillary
arch and open spaces on the mandibular one
were completely eliminated. Esthetic and
functional objectives were achieved. Stable
therapeutic Class II molar and Class I canine
occlusions were obtained. As can be seen in
the superimposition tracing and confirmed
by the cephalometric values in the pre- and
posttreatment comparison, there was an
uprighting of both maxillary and mandibular
incisors. That effect was the result of the
anterior and seating elastics that were prescribed to the patient during the treatment.
His maxillary second molars could have been
positioned in better occlusion, but the patient refused to stay in treatment any longer,
and he and his family were fully satisfied
with the results (Figures 7-10; Table 3).
