Summer 2020 PCSO Bulletin
have been accepted into an accredited
orthodontic residency program, but have not
yet started, to be exempt from paying dues
for the period of December 1 through May
31 immediately following acceptance into a
residency program. This is another gesture
of inclusion and welcome into our profession that we are extending to our new and
younger members.
Reinstatement of Lapsed Members: This
resolution creates an easier pathway to reinstatement and allows the lapsed members
to reinstate by paying a reinstatement fee
of 25% of dues and assessment of the most
recent lapsed year plus the current dues and
assessment.
Dues Billing Hold: This will allow the AAO
to distribute membership dues invoices on
August 1, 2020, for all membership categories
(as opposed to the traditional date of June
1). With all the practice closures due to the
shelter-in-place orders, this will allow our
members to be back in their offices for a few
months before renewal notices are sent out.
In addition, members will be allowed to take
advantage of installment payments for a
longer timeframe this year.

In closing, this has been quite a productive year
for me as your rookie delegation chair. I was
involved in a historical change of format in the
way we conducted our HOD business. It is truly
an honor to serve you in this capacity. Our past
delegation chair, Dr. Ron Wolk, has left big shoes
to fill, and I will do my best to maintain the excellence he has left behind. I would like to acknowledge our wonderful PCSO delegates, appointed by
and including our dedicated president, Dr. Robert
Meister; Drs. Trista Felty, Kelly Giannetti, John
Griffiths, Lili Horton, Marie Lathrop, Tom Merrill,
Kam Olfert, Kurt Stormberg, John Wachtel, Ron
Wolk, as well as alternate delegates Drs. Melanie
Parker, Jahnavi Rao, and John Trotter. The 2020
VHOD, much like the 2020 virtual Annual Session,
was a resounding success, and despite all the
challenges we faced, our AAO has taken a giant
step forward in better utilization of technology to
serve our members more effectively.
