Outgoing Trustee Report
The term " is equivalent " has not necessarily been
demonstrated with orthodontic services in a peer
reviewed journal. The AAO remains committed
to in-person examinations and evaluations at the
first visit, with appropriate diagnostic information.
As I close this chapter of my PCSO leadership
ladder, I want to thank every one of you for all
your support over the past eight years. I want to
especially thank the nine PCSO presidents and
their boards with whom I have been privileged to
work since I became trustee: Drs Bryan Williams,
Ronald Jawor, Frank Beglin, Bryan Hicks, Paul
Kasrovi, Kamrin Olfert, Kurt Stormberg, Robert
Meister, and Marie Lathrop.
Words cannot completely express my admiration
for each of them and their leadership. The PCSO
has a bright future with these individuals and all
members serving on our Boards of Directors over
the years.
In addition, I would especially like to thank
the 2012 Board of Directors, who reviewed the
credentials and interviewed three candidates for
the trustee position in the fall of 2012 (much like
the Board of Directors this past fall). Thanks go to
President Rob Merrill, President-Elect Bryan Williams, Secretary-Treasurer Ronald Jawor, and the
following directors: Chris Henry (Alaska), Glenna
Grykuliak (Alberta), Alan Curtis (Arizona), Paul
Helpard (British Columbia), Tom Bales (California),
Wanda Claro (California), Tony Cucalon (California), Andrew Harner (California), Paul Kasrovi
(California), Robert Meister (California), Gib Snow
(California), Tammy Chang-Motooka (Hawaii),
Robert Agnetta (Idaho), Frank Beglin (Nevada),
Jay Schofeld (Oregon), Kamrin Olfert (Saskatchewan), Jackie Bunce (Washington), Robert Varner
(trustee), and Past-President Lesley Williams. This
Board decided to move my name forward to the
AAO, and the journey began.
I would be remiss if I also did not thank others
who have had a major influence on me and the
leadership path I walked: (1) Mr. Phil Rollins and
his wife, Jane, who nurtured my movement from
the California Association of Orthodontists up to
and including my tenure on the PCSO board; (2)
Ms. Jill Nowak, executive director of the PCSO and
CFO for the AAO, who took over when Phil Rollins
retired; and (3) Ms. Callie Castro, current PCSO
executive director. To each of them, I extend my
humble and grateful thanks for assisting me
every step of the way.
It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve
my friends and colleagues in the PCSO, the best
constituent. You all truly rock!
