The Alaska State Society of Orthodontists canceled their annual
continuing education course and
business meeting scheduled to be
held in Spring 2021. A virtual business meeting
will be held instead.

Alberta
The Alberta Society of Orthodontists (ASO) continues to show
high participation with nearly 100
orthodontists in our membership
this year. Although this pandemic has dramatically
shifted our daily lives, it's exciting to converse with
colleagues about the strategies they've incorporated to pivot their practices and adapt to the current
reality. Many of these strategies have made our
practices more efficient while maintaining quality
care for our patients, with some of these likely to
continue even as the pandemic fades away.
Unfortunately, but also expectedly, the ASO
canceled its 2021 Annual Meeting at the Banff
Springs Fairmont, which was to be held March 1920. The virtual AGM was held March 18. The 2022
ASO conference is scheduled for March at the
Banff Springs Fairmont, and the executive team
has already started the planning process for this
highly anticipated and much missed meeting.
Lastly, the ASO executive team agreed that its
current website could use a facelift, so they're excited to be launching a new website this summer.
This website is an important channel for the public to learn about the specialty as well as submit
inquiries, concerns, or comments to the Society.
The past year has made this even more evident,
and this update will help us be better prepared
for whatever is thrown our direction next.
Although this year has been unique and challenging, I believe many of us stayed positive and

supportive of each other, and soon enough we'll
all be able to meet in person again and share
stories about how this pandemic has given us
the opportunity to advance in this fast-paced and
ever-evolving world.

Arizona
The Arizona State Orthodontic
Association (ASOA) is excited to
announce the election of Alyssa
Levin, DDS, MS, as Arizona's next
PCSO director; she will step into her PCSO position
in October 2021. We would like to thank Michael
Feinberg, DDS, MS, for his years of commitment
to the PCSO in this position and congratulate Dr.
Levin as she assumes the role this fall.
The new year welcomed preparation for our 2021
Annual Session with guest Speaker Jason Cope,
DDS, PhD, FACD. After an unprecedented 2020
in which the COVID-19 pandemic forced the
association to host our annual session virtually,
leadership is very excited to once again host an
in-person meeting. A final decision has not been
made on the location of the ASOA 2021 Annual
Session, but you can plan on an official announcement this summer.
On January 4, the Arizona Orthodontic Study
Group (AOSG) had its first meeting of 2021 and
hosted Texas A&M College of Dentistry Program
Director Dr. Larry Tadlock as the guest speaker.
The AOSG has adapted well to social distancing
requirements of its members. This year, the
study group has held all of its meetings virtually
and, along with Dr. Larry Tadlock, has also had
the pleasure of hosting Dr. Jae Hyun Park. AOSG
plans to continue meeting virtually until further
notice but continues to be open to hosting guests
and accepting new members who are interested
in connecting with colleagues from around the
state and hearing an excellent lineup of guest
speakers throughout the year. You can find
