The Alaska State Society of Orthodontists
(ASSO) held an annual
business meeting on March 26,
during which we reviewed our
bylaws, policies and procedures, and finances in
depth as the other PCSO components are doing.
A review was long overdue and well received. The
ASSO continues the process with a local legal review
of bylaws. Voting approval by the executive
committee and full membership is coming. We
have confirmed Dr. Christian Kenworthy as our
speaker for the 2022 continuing education program.
We are looking forward to hearing from Dr.
Kenworthy after a two-year delay. We are excited
to move toward something resembling normal in
the coming months!

Alberta
It has been a very interesting
and challenging year for all as
we grapple with the ongoing
COVID-19 pandemic. At this time,
Alberta Society of Orthodontists (ASO) members
are all back to work, following the workplace
guidelines provided by governing bodies. Back
to work does not mean back to normal, but the
guidelines provided do allow us all to effectively
see our wonderful patients in a safe manner.
It was recently decided by the ASO Executive that
the in-person 2021 annual meeting scheduled for
March 2021 would be formally canceled because
of the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. The annual
general meeting (AGM) occurred on March
18, 2021 and was hosted virtually.
The ASO is planning on waiving all membership
fees for the 2021 cycle. This means, once again,
that there is now no cost to becoming a member.
We encourage all interested to take advantage of
this, because this is the time when your membership
matters the most.
The main current topic of discussion at the ASO
is COVID-19 practice management and back-towork
protocols. The ASO Executive has been in
many discussions with the provincial Alberta
Dental Association & College leadership regarding
this issue, and ASO input was incorporated
into provincial guidelines.

Arizona
The Arizona State Orthodontic
Association (ASOA) continues to
prepare for the ASOA 2021 annual
session. This year, the ASOA is
excited to announce Jason Cope, DDS, PhD, FACP,
as guest speaker. Final preparations are underway
for a fun day of continued education and business
meeting, where the new leadership will be voted
on and confirmed.
The ASOA is again excited to announce the
election of Alyssa Levin, DDS, MS, as Arizona's
PCSO director. We would like to thank Michael
Feinberg, DDS, MS, for his years of commitment
to the PCSO in this position and congratulate
Alyssa Levin as she assumes the roll this
fall.
The Arizona Orthodontic Study Group has
finished another successful year with many
guest lectures. The study group plans to resume
in-person meetings next fall and continues to
host guests and accept new members who are
interested in connecting with colleagues from
around the state and hearing an excellent lineup
