the blunting of the maxillary incisor roots by
about 2 to 3 mm, and no other root resorption
was evident in the panoramic radiograph.
The posttreatment panoramic image
also showed good root parallelism, except
the root of the maxillary right first premolar
was close to its adjacent second premolar.
The third molars were extracted before the
completion of orthodontic treatment (Figures
9 and 10).
From the overall superimposition, the
patient did not undergo any significant
maxillary or mandibular growth. There was
a closure of the mandibular plane angle as a
result of maxillary molar intrusion. The maxillary
superimposition revealed a significant
amount of maxillary incisor proclination and
extrusion as well as a couple millimeters of
maxillary molar intrusion. The mandibular
superimposition demonstrated 1 to 2 mm
of molar and mandibular incisor extrusion
(Figure 11). There was also a significant
improvement in the patient's soft-tissue
contour, with decreased mentalis strain and
improved soft-tissue relationship at repose.
The ABO objective grading score was 20,
showing good finishing (Figure 12).
