The Hawaii Society of Orthodontists
(HSO), in partnership with 3M, held
a continuing education (CE) event
in early summer. It was a virtual
event, but a physical location was made available
for those wishing to meet in person and view the
lecture together. Dr. Vanessa Peterson, an orthodontist
from Rancho Cucamonga, California, spoke on
correcting the vertical dimension with 3M Clarity
clear aligners. She lectured on digital treatment designs
for addressing deep bite and open bite cases
and walked through her case management approach
for predictable aligner treatment. Attendees
were provided with Academy of General Dentistry
Program Approval for Continuing Education 1.5 CE
hours.
The HSO executive board is planning to hold a halfday
in-person CE event in the late summer. This will
be the second in-person CE event for HSO since the
start of the pandemic.

Idaho
The Idaho State Orthodontic Association
component meeting was held
on June 10 in beautiful Sun Valley,
Idaho. Dr. Peter Ngan was our guest
speaker. Dr. Ngan is the chairman of the Department
of Orthodontics at West Virginia University and
has published extensive research articles. He has a
private practice in Morgantown, West Virginia, and
is considered a world-renowned speaker. His topic
was " Contemporary Treatment of Malocclusions
in Three Planes of Space. " We also had our annual
business meeting on June 10. We were thrilled to
host Dr. Ngan and all of our attendees from near and
far alike!

We hope everyone had a great summer
and is ready for the fall. Nevada
will host a state breakfast at the Western
Orthodontic Conference in San
Diego, California, on October 27-30. Also, Las Vegas is
hosting the AAO mid-winter conference January 2729,
2023, on 3D printing. We hope everyone can make
it to our home state meeting!

We hope those who attended the
AAO Annual Session in Miami enjoyed
the warm weather and chance
to gather with colleagues. We are
pleased to report that the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists
is working toward a return to an in-person
annual meeting in early December. Stay tuned to your
email for further announcements! We also welcomed
our newest class to Oregon Health & Science University's
orthodontic residency in June.
