Legends of the PCSO unlocking unimaginable success and that education would be the road to that success. As a mother, she began to shape the legend of her son, Arthur. Because of his academic excellence, Dad earned a full scholarship in high school. He decided to transfer to another high school after his first year because he wanted to attend a school closer to his home and he felt uncomfortable about being on scholarship. He wanted to pay his own way, so he worked in the neighborhood butcher shop to earn enough money to pay for his tuition. His high school principal helped to shape Art Dugoni as a legend, as he encouraged him to pursue public speaking and debating. Dad won several elocution contests, which helped to form his career in academics and organized dentistry. When World War II broke out, his principal encouraged him to start college early to qualify for Officer Candidate School. He began his studies at the University of San Francisco and finished at Gonzaga University. While at Gonzaga, my dad met the love of his life, Dean of the dental school Three generations of orthodontists including his son Steve and grandsons Brian and Aaron 30 PCSO Bulletin Summer 2022
