weather service, flight-planning tools and connectivity to
their operations department .
The BendixKing AeroWave 100 offers Internet access at
speeds up to 200 Kbps through an active low-gain antenna,
utilizing satellites to provide worldwide, high-speed service
in areas not served by terrestrial technology . By basing
service on the number of hours used, charges to use the
AeroWave 100 will be easy to predict and understand,
especially when compared with typical Internet-access
plans, which measure the amount of data transmitted . The
company is accepting orders for the BendixKing AeroWave
100, which was available in 2014's second quarter .
Joining other manufacturers offering the newly deregulated products to operators of certified general aviation
airplanes, BendixKing also announced it had received an
FAA letter of approval to install the KLR 10 Lift Reserve
Indicator . The company said the KLR 10 will help improve
airplane operational safety by maintaining pilot awareness of how much lift remains during phases of flight with
the highest angles of attack, such as takeoff, approach
and landing, which account for the majority of preventable
loss-of-control accidents . The KLR 10 uses audible cues
like "Check AoA" and "Caution, too slow" when connected
through aircraft audio sources . Additional features include
low cost and light weight, easy installation and a compact
2-inch indicator, which can be mounted in the pilot's primary
field of vision . The KLR 10 is available immediately via the
BendixKing dealer network .

EMTEQ
Revolutionary lighting systems are another technology
giving lie to the naysayer's view that "there's nothing new in
general aviation ." As an example, EMTEQ chose the AEA
Convention to introduce its new 3X Series, which offers
what the company called "white-wash lighting" for corporate
aircraft cabin upgrades .
"More than 10 years ago, EMTEQ jumpstarted the transition to LED lighting aboard executive aircraft with the
introduction of the ELW30, a product with more than 2,300
orders," stated Peter Tessmann, product marketing manager for the 3X Series . "Keeping our customers who know

and love the ELW30 in mind, we have done that again with
the introduction of the 3X Series ."
In addition to enhancing performance through what the
company called cutting-edge LED and lens technology, the
3X series of lighting products includes an easier way to
upgrade to LED lighting through a unique "bypass" installation option . As if that weren't enough, the product line also
offers high-efficiency lighting when compared with old-tech
incandescent or fluorescent systems, along with new levels of color consistency and unmatched color blending . To
achieve these goals, EMTEQ employed a next-generation
lens, creating a homogeneous lighting output while not
diminishing its intensity . A wider spread of the light gives the
cabin a fuller appearance, according to the company .
But one of the most significant advantages to EMTEQ's
3X Series is its installation flexibility . The 3X Series can
be installed as either a minor modification or as part of a
full one . That's possible, in part, because relatively heavy
ballasts and power supplies for other lighting technologies
can be removed, saving weight in the aircraft . Plus, the 3X
series can use existing wiring, and includes a regulated
power supply, delivering steady output directly from 28VDC
aircraft power .
The 3X series line includes built-in step dimming, along
with variable dimming options, and is designed for compatibilities with EMTEQ's legacy ELW30 standard . To ease
installation, the 3X series uses the same mounting clips,
eliminating the need to change clip inventory or learn new
install methods .

Flight Display Systems
Steve Lord, regional sales manager for Flight Display
Systems, told AEA Convention attendees the past year
had been an exciting one for his company, and included
developing several new products for its cabin management
system and in-flight entertainment lines .
Flight Display Systems' newest product is its XM Radio
Streamer, also known as the DAPS360 Ver 2, which interfaces with the company's wireless jukebox, JetJukebox,
using a Web browser . The product also can interface with
the majority of in-service cabin management systems . As
its name implies, the XM Radio Streamer streams satellite
