Letter from the President
Greetings from TCTM!
In these unusual and difficult times and
our unsettled educational environment,
I want to remind you of some things
that might help as you possibly work
in an electronic platform for instruction
as well as with your own families,
TCTM wants to offer you some options
for activities and ideas as different
resources.
When you go to the website, select the Texas Mathematics
Teacher tab. In the dropdown menu for this tab, select the
archives. There you will find multiple issues of the journal, all
of which contain articles and activities for your students. All
of the issues contain information and activities that represent
good mathematics, even those from past years. Do not hesitate
to use them as they align to your Student Expectations.
These are free to all teachers. Please share them with others
in your district. Membership is not required for access. The
newest editions of the journal are accessed on the homepage.
Now, for the news of the organization.
The Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics is in the midst
of multiple changes. For part of our current goals, we are
attempting to make our website easier to use and improve our
communications with you, the members of TCTM.
Let me introduce you to our newest board members. Elected
board members that joined the board in January, 2020 are
as follows:

TCTM Leader Spotlight
Each year since 1995, TCTM has accepted nominations for
two awards for leaders in our professional community.
The TCTM Leadership Award is presented to a TCTM
member who is nominated by a TCTM affiliate. The second
award, the E. Glenadine Gibb Achievement Award, is
presented to someone nominated by a TCTM member.
The following individuals have been honored and we wish
to acknowledge their former and ongoing contributions
this year in the leader spotlight. If you wish to nominate
someone for 2021, please download the forms from our
website. Please submit your nomination by Dec. 31, 2020.
The award recipients for 2020 will be recognized at the
TCTM business meeting at CAMT 2020. See the program
for time and place of the meeting.
