Build America and Buy American Act
GMA has been closely monitoring developments related to the Build America and Buy
American Act. These policies impact infrastructure projects and sourcing requirements. GMA
continues to advocate for geosynthetics' inclusion in infrastructure projects, emphasizing their
durability, cost-effectiveness, environmental benefits and the domestic manufacturing footprint.
FHWA notice of proposed rule making
GMA actively participated in discussions surrounding the Federal Highway Administration's
(FHWA) notice of proposed rule making (NPRM) process. The proposed rules would
eliminate a long-standing definition of " manufactured products " as utilized by the FHWA,
and can significantly affect geosynthetic materials' accessibility and use in transportation
infrastructure. GMA provided expert insight and recommendations to ensure the rules align
with industry best practices.
Promoting Geotechnical Frontiers 2025
GMA is excited about Geotechnical Frontiers 2025 (GF25), a major industry event scheduled
for March 2-5 in Louisville, Ky. The association has been actively promoting this conference,
which brings together geotechnical professionals, researchers, manufacturers and practitioners.
Attendees can expect cutting-edge presentations, workshops and networking opportunities.

GeoCongress and Pan-American Geosynthetics Conference
In promoting GF25, GMA had a strong presence at GeoCongress in Vancouver and the
Pan-American Geosynthetics Conference (GeoAmericas 2024) in Toronto. These conferences
provided platforms for knowledge exchange, technical sessions and discussions on
geosynthetic innovations. GMA members actively participated, sharing insights and learning
from industry experts.

Spring Lobby Days
In June, GMA hosted its Spring Lobby Days in Washington, D.C. During these days, GMA
members engaged in renewed conversations with congressional representatives. Key topics
included the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and the recent Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) reauthorization. GMA's advocacy efforts aim to shape policies that
support geosynthetics' role in infrastructure development.
