GS North America (IGS-NA) continues its extremely active period of development. We
welcome the involvement of Geosynthetics magazine's readership. If you are not already
a member of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) and one of its chapters, we
strongly encourage you to make 2023 the year you join.
As a not-for-profit engineering group with an educational mission, a great deal of our
upcoming work involves virtual and in-person professional development opportunities:
* IGS North America's webinar series returns this fall. We have top-tier presenters lined
up, including IGS Past President Dr. Jorge Zornberg, PE; Dr. Erol Tutumluer; Dr. Dov
Leshchinsky; Boyd Ramsey; and Dr. Robert Bachus, PE. The full schedule, topics, and
registration links will be published soon on the Events page at igs-na.org. All IGS-NA
webinars are free. PDHs are issued to members.
* Elections for IGS North America's Board of Directors will be held in 4Q 2022. All
IGS-NA members are eligible to run for election. Details will be posted on the
chapter website, shared in the monthly newsletter, and posted in social media this fall.

* Geosynthetics Conference 2023 (February 5-8, Kansas City). We're proud to be a
partner to this event and to hold our next general meeting at the conference! We
are also organizing a Student Poster Competition with cash prizes and conference
registrations to be awarded, courtesy of IGS North America and the Geosynthetic
Materials Association (GMA).

* GeoSaskatoon 2023 (1-4 October 2023, Saskatchewan). IGS-NA is partnering with
the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS), the Saskatoon Geotechnical Section of
the CGS, and the International Association of Hydrogeologists-Canadian National
Chapter (IAH-CNC) on GeoSaskatoon 2023. The CGS's annual conference is a
highlight on the North American geotechnical calendar. This edition features a
fantastic organizing committee (with IGS-NA members!).
* GeoAmericas 2024 (28 April-1 May 2024, Toronto). IGS North America will host
the 5th Pan-American Conference on Geosynthetics, bringing the quadrennial event
to Canada for the first time. We are busy forming committees and will begin issuing
calls in 3Q 2022. Your involvement is encouraged and welcomed! Some hybrid
components will be included.
* 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13-17 September 2026, Montreal).
For the first time since 1998, the ICG will be held in North America. IGS-NA is proud
to have earned the award to host this seminal engineering event. Details forthcoming.
