The Board of Directors of Chair-man Mills
Corp. (CMMC), on behalf of McCain Capital
Partners, announces the appointment of
Allison Freeman to the position of Chief
Executive Offi cer of CMMC, a national tent
and event rentals company in Canada.
United Rentals, Stamford, Conn., has
outlined the steps the company is taking
to reduce the environmental impact of its
operations and help its customers reduce
their carbon footprint. The initiatives United
Rentals is undertaking to achieve these
goals are detailed in the new white paper
" Sustainability at United Rentals. "
Tricia Schmitt has been named president
and chief revenue offi cer at AFR Furniture
Rental, located in Pennsauken, N.J. Schmitt
has been with the company for more than
21 years and also was an AFR client for 10
years prior to joining the team.
Marquee Event Rentals, McCook, Ill., has
purchased inventory and an exclusive
partnership with Kansas City-based
wedding, design and decor company
Ultrapom. Both organizations have built a
long-standing relationship over the past fi ve
years, often working together to leverage
Marquee's expansive inventory of tenting
and tabletop rentals with the design and
décor solutions offered by Ultrapom.
Shelter Structures America, Palos Verdes
Estates, Calif., is expanding its national
footprint by adding its third distribution
facility. The new location outside of Roanoke,
Va., comes months after Shelter announced
it had purchased a new distribution center
in Chicago, Ill.
In memoriam: Carroll D. " Denny " Taylor Jr.,
60, of Oxon Hill, Md., died Sept. 6, 2022.
Taylor served as a team member at Oxon Hill
Rentals, Fort Washington, Md., for 36 years.
In memoriam: Jerry Smolar, 72, of Beverly
Hills, Calif., died Sept. 13, 2022. Smolar is
known for establishing The Chameleon Chair®
Collection. He was hired by Arthur Andersen
& Co. right after graduating from college.
Smolar went on to hold executive positions
at Safeco Insurance, PIP Printing, Image
Entertainment and United Title Insurance Co.
In 2005, Smolar established The Chameleon
Chair Collection, a special event design and
manufacturing fi rm with the patented chairs
that were considered to be one of the most
signifi cant new products in the event design
industry. Chameleon's initial foray into the
chair business was to provide 1,500 chairs for
the 2005 Academy Awards® Governors Ball.
Since then, Chameleon Chair has become
one of the industry's most recognized seating
options for weddings and corporate events.
