In many circumstances, the thermostat is
managed via cell phone, so adjustments
can be made even from off-site.
The growing popularity of clear top
tents presents additional issues. " People
want to be comfortable in a clear top too, "
says Cruikshank, " but that has been challenging.
We're doing covers for the clear
tops to keep the sun out during the day,
but we're having to double up the HVAC
just to make it work. "
Companies do hear from clients that
they would like noise to be less of an issue,
although a trend toward smaller
units mitigates some of the sound issues.
" Our units are ductless; they are very
quiet, with no ducting that you need to
do in the space, " says Behnke. " Rather
than go with one large trailer or skidmounted
unit that you have to duct into
a tent, a 30-to-50-ton trailer unit, we divide
that up into ive-ton units, six to 10
of them strategically distributed around
the perimeter. It really offers a better
experience for the guests and a better
distribution of the air. It also gives you
redundancy. "
But of course, such a setup is more
expensive, she adds. " We're very upfront
with clients about that. If they
can achieve what they want to achieve
with the trailer-mounted unit, that's
going to be their most cost-effective
