Applications open for ATA Student
Ambassador program
A
dvanced Textiles Association (ATA) announces applications are now
open for its new Student Ambassador program. The program's mission
is to bring college students' voices to the association to bridge the gap
between education and the textile industry.
Students who participate in the program will help with the following:
* Advanced Textiles Expo (and possibly other events)
* ATA podcasts
* ATA advisory boards and councils
* Promotion of ATA through industry connections and social media
* Recruitment of other students for the program
Participants will foster leadership and communication skills and personal
and professional development while creating long-lasting relationships with
industry professionals. This is a volunteer position with the option to fulfill
academic requirements if needed.
Selection and interview process
A completed application needs to be submitted from interested students.
The selection committee will then schedule a formal interview. Students
will be notified if they are accepted within two weeks of the initial interview.
The applicants will be interviewed by an ATA staff member and an Emerging
Technologies Council Advisory Board member. The interview will last
approximately 30 minutes.

Camira Group Inc., an international fabric
manufacturer, has announced three new
hires within the contract and hospitality
segment. Camira Group has appointed
Emily Timm as director of sales, Paul
Tucker as sales manager and Gabriela
Cobb as business development manager.
Herculite Products Inc. announced that
Patrick Clysdale has been hired as the
southeastern regional manager for
the direct sales team.
Carolina Nonwovens LLC, a subsidiary
of National Spinning Co. Inc., announced
plans to open a new manufacturing plant
in Fostoria, Ohio. Currently, equipment is
being installed into the facility. The plant
is expected to begin operation by the
third quarter of 2024.
Milliken & Company announced it is
working to design and manufacture
flame-resistant (FR) undergarment
fabric for NASA's Artemis missions.
Artemis III will be the first U.S.-crewed
moon mission in more than 50 years,
planned for launch no earlier than 2026.
MycoWorks, a biotechnology company
based in Emeryville, Calif., has
announced the appointment of Ginevra
Boralevi as director of communications.
The National Council of Textile
Organizations (NCTO), has announced
the results of its officer elections for
fiscal year 2024. NCTO has elected
Charles Heilig, president of Parkdale
Mills, as chairman and Chuck Hall,
president and CEO of Barnet, as
vice chairman.
Glen Raven Inc. announced that Joseph
Davis has been named the next president of
Glen Raven Material Solutions Group. Davis
succeeds Dave Swers, who is retiring after
a 35-year career at Glen Raven.
Ultrafabrics, a high-performance fabric
manufacturer based in Tarrytown, N.Y.,
announced the addition of two new
members to the sales leadership team.
Kimberly Peoples has joined the team as
sales director for the residential market,
and Amanda Bylsma has joined the
leadership team as sales manager
for the Midwest region.
KM Fabrics, a manufacturer of woven
velvets for drapery, upholstery, wrapped
panels and specialty applications,
announced that the company is
relocating. KM will relocate a few
miles from its current location in
West Greenville, S.C., by late 2025.
