ATA announces scholarship endowment
for textiles students
A
dvanced Textiles Association (ATA) and North Carolina State University
announce the creation of the Advanced Textiles Association Extraordinary
Opportunity Scholarship Endowment, which will support textiles student
development at NC State's Wilson College of Textiles and promotion of the textiles
industry as a rewarding and valuable career path. Funding for this endowment
comes from the remaining assets in the Industrial Fabrics Foundation (IFF), as
well as a pledge from ATA to fund it annually for the next few years. Then, with
matching funds from NC State donors, this endowment becomes a perpetual
fund into the future.
" On behalf of our members, ATA is pleased to provide this scholarship to
textiles students, " says Steve Schiffman, president and CEO of ATA. " Our industry
is in need of workforce development and our hope is that this scholarship is a part
of that development. "
This ATA Scholarship Endowment will be used to provide need-based
scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in the Wilson College of
Textiles. The scholarship will live in perpetuity, providing a $3,000 scholarship
to a textiles student every year. ATA has plans to help match member companies
with candidates for internship and employment opportunities via this scholarship
endowment, its Career Center and other future efforts.

the next generation of textile leaders, " says David Hinks, dean of the Wilson
College of Textiles. " This newly established Advanced Textiles Association
Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship will further our college's commitment
to making a world-class textiles education accessible to those who have
extraordinary potential and also financial need. Our successful partnership
with the ATA is rooted in our shared commitment to ensuring that the U.S.
textiles industry is bold and innovative and rooted in equity and inclusivity. "
Scholarship recipients will also be provided with professional development
opportunities to learn, discover and innovate within the college's state-ofthe-art
facilities.
IN MEMORIAM
Phillip " Phil " Eugene Russell, 70,
of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on
Wednesday, November 23, 2022. He
passed away quietly in his home
surrounded by close family members
after a very long, courageous battle with
cancer. He started PCR Restorations Inc.
DBA Lehr-Awning Co. in the basement
of the family home and grew his business
over the years with his son, Chris, into a
well-established family-owned business
with much success over the years.
AATCC members elected their 2023-2024
representatives to the board of directors.
Andrew Fraser, Textile Color and Sourcing
Solutions, was chosen to become
president-elect. John Crocker, SDL Atlas,
is now president and Harrie Schoots is
the immediate past president.
Kingly Ltd. introduced its " Upcycling
project, " which intends to retrieve textile
waste not for recycling but to create new
products. Kingly is the first zero-waste
textile company that creates sustainable
products for the promotional industry.

Manufacturers Association (PAMA)
and Marine Fabricators Association

The Lenzing Group, supplier of
sustainably produced specialty fibers,
and Renewcell, the Swedish textile-totextile
recycling pioneer, have signed a
multiyear supply agreement to accelerate
the transition of the textile industry from
a linear to a circular business model. The
agreement contains the sale of 80,000
to 100,000 tons of Renewcell's 100%
recycled textile Circulose®
dissolving pulp
to Lenzing over a five-year period, for use
in the production of cellulosic fibers for
fashion and other textile applications.
