C
ecil Baker + Partners, Philadelphia, designed the lobby renovation of Ryan Veterinary Hospital
at Univ. of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The project called for a new
lobby and reception and waiting areas that would be spacious and easy
to navigate, while providing a calm,
serene atmosphere for pets (and
their oftentimes anxious owners).
The architects delivered a contemporary aesthetic to their re-design
of the existing space, including a
vertical, color-changing LED lighting
element as a focal point. Wayfinding
was greatly improved and rubber
flooring specified to reduce noise
and provide a comfortable surface
for pets. The end result completely
changed the feeling and function
of the public front of the building.
