UK Catalysis Hub

Several UK universities have
a catalysis focus within their
science departments, and
these collaborate through
the UK Catalysis Hub which
is led by the universities of
Bath, Cardiff, and Manchester.
Other members and research
associates include Bristol
University, Durham University,
Leeds University, Newcastle
University, Oxford University,
Queens University Belfast
(QUB), University College
London (UCL) and York
University.
The UK Catalysis Hub
was set up in 2015 with
Phase I funding from the
Engineering and Physical
Sciences Research Council
(EPSRC). It holds meetings
for its stakeholders and
provides funding for
innovative catalysis projects
from UK research groups.
It has a physical location
- the UK Catalysis Hub
Harwell Research Complex's
laboratories in Harwell,
Oxfordshire, project managed
by Dr Josie Goodall. This is
a vital resource for catalysis
researchers and houses the
UK's Diamond Light Source,
the ISIS neutron facility and
more recently the Central
Laser Facility (CLF) (UK
Catalysis Hub, 2020).

The Hub is currently in Phase II of funding which runs until 2023. The Phase II research themes are: Core Catalysis, Optimizing,
Predicting and Designing New Catalysts, Catalysis at the Water Energy Nexus and Catalysis for the Circular Economy and Sustainable
Manufacturing.
