COVID-19 RESPONSE & recovery
Throughout the pandemic, the VCC team mobilized in additional ways to continue to serve
the residents, hospitality workers, and business owners in the community.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY SAFE

HOSPITALITY
RELIEF FUND

The Visit Champaign County
Foundation Board, in conjunction
with the Visit Champaign County
Board, created a Hospitality
Relief Fund to provide direct
financial support for individuals
who have immediately
formerly worked in the greater
Champaign County area as
housekeepers, caterers, cooks,
front desk staff or anywhere in
our hotel partner operations.
Over $12,000 was raised
thanks to matching funds from
the Champaign-Urbana Hotel
Lodging Association (CUHLA) to
provide financial assistance to
42 displaced employees at each
of our current Hotel Partners.

In collaboration with community
stakeholders, Visit Champaign County
created ChampaignCountySafe.org, with
business resources and the Champaign
County Safe Pledge for residents to review.
Support materials including social media
graphics, posters, and videos were also
created by VCC.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

The VCC team has maintained a
comprehensive list of updates of area
restaurants, attractions, and events to
educate the community on how they can
support local busiensses. Community
videos were also created to show solidarity
and community pride, as well as virtual
experiences to continue to highlight our
community.

BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT

Throughout the pandemic, VCC has
maintained daily communication with
hotels, attractions, and local businesses to
communicate grant opportunities, share
webinars, including VCC's Promoting Safety
in Hospitality, and to learn how we can
continue to support their needs.
