COVID-19 RESPONSE & recovery
Ensuring the health and safety of our community is the first step in welcoming back visitors. Our efforts, in
collaboration with many area organizations, were vital to keeping our local businesses, hospitality workers,
and residents safe as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY SAFE
From social media graphics, to posters, to videos, we coordinated with Champaign-Urbana Public Health District to
create timely content to educate the public and assist our local businesses with managing the changing protocols of the
pandemic. We continued to update ChampaignCountySafe.org on a near-daily basis with pertinent blog content and update
resources as they became available.

I'M A BIG SHOT
As part of the vaccination efforts, we partnered with the New American Welcome Center,
CUPHD, and You're Welcome CU to create a t-shirt to use as incentives. Designed by local artist,
Matt Wiley, the shirt features Alma Mater on a needle, bragging about getting the vaccine in
Champaign County. Shirts are available for purchase at Visit Champaign County or online at
chambanaproud.com.
HOSPITALITY RELIEF FUND
Nationally and locally, the pandemic wreaked havoc on the hospitality
industry. Following our initial relief efforts in April 2020, the Hospitality Relief
Fund was relaunched and expanded in response to strict mitigation efforts
that continued to severely impact the hospitality industry.
The Hospitality Relief Fund raised $33,365, and was distributed to
136 hospitality heroes across 53 businesses. Jobs ranged from baristas,
servers, cooks, maintenance, housekeeping, and more. Donations came from
over 100 individuals as well as the United Way of Champaign County, the
Champaign County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and the ChampaignUrbana
Hotel Lodging Association. Watch our thank you video and hear their
