FALL IS HERE AGAIN! The summer seemed to go by
quickly here at Registration Services. That speedy pace has
likely stemmed from our efforts to provide even more resources
to strengthen the association and its educational
offerings to members.
One area we continue to build up is competency profile
development. With the continued expansion of disciplinespecific
competency profiles, we're currently completing
the Welding Engineering Technology and Biomedical Engineering
Technology competency profiles this fall.
We've also been putting in the time to provide tools and supports
to those with technical training outside of Canada. As
an additional resource for international applicants, an Internationally
Trained Application Handbook has been developed
and published on the ASET website. This handbook is
a useful resource for those who are internationally trained
and wish to apply to ASET for certification.
These efforts have been matched by our members, who
as always showcase commitment to professionalism and
proper practice.
This commitment is clearly reflected
in the continuing 2021 CPD audit.
So far, 64 per cent of C.Tech., C.E.T.,
and R.E.T. members, along with 87
per cent of P.Tech. members have
already completed the 2021 CPD audit
requirements. Did you know that on-thejob
training, demonstrating a technical
application to colleagues or mentoring
is considered CPD? You do now.
The number of T.T. members who have applied for C.Tech/
C.E.T and the number of student members who have applied
for T.T. has increased (when compared to Q2 2021). In addition,
P.Tech., PLAR and reinstatement applications have also
increased when compared to Q2 2021.
Fall is also a reminder that the year is soon to end, meaning
that annual dues are coming up. Please update your contact
information through your member dashboard, to make sure
you're notified of dues renewal dates and deadlines.
As everyone acclimates to new learning and colder weather,
we at Registration Services continue in our work to provide
the resources you need, no matter your discipline of practice
or educational background. Stay warm and stay well!
