Technology Accreditation Canada Accredits
Engineering Technology Programs at NAIT
and SAIT
Technology Accreditation Canada recently presented national
program accreditation certificates at Northern Alberta Institute of
Technology (NAIT) and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
(SAIT).
In recent months, SAIT's Power Engineering program, NAIT's Instrumentation Engineering Technology program and SAIT's Engineering Design and Drafting Technology were recognized for meeting the
national standards of Canada's engineering technology profession.
"As a national leader in the accreditation of engineering technology and applied science educational programs, Technology
Accreditation Canada congratulates NAIT and SAIT on achieving
its TAC five-year accreditation," expressed TAC Board Chair Peter
Portlock. "Each program's alignment with the rigorous requirements of TAC's national standard of excellence provides assurance to students and their families, faculty, industry and government that the accredited program is relevant and cutting-edge,
mirroring today's industry and technology profession requirements and making graduates of the program highly employable."

"This accreditation marks the sixth at SAIT, which demonstrates the institution's strong commitment to its students,"
notes Richard Stamper, TAC Executive Director. "Accreditation
provides students, parents and the institution's administration
confidence that the program meets the profession's standards."
"We are very pleased to receive TAC accreditation for Power
Engineering, a key program in SAIT's MacPhail School of Energy," states Lynne Allan, Dean. "This, along with the other TAC
accreditations provides meaningful recognition to our students
and signifies the quality in SAIT's programs."
NAIT - Instrumentation Engineering Technology

NAIT Program Chair, Andy van der Veen, B.Sc, P.Eng. and his
team presented the program to lead auditor Patrick Coulthard,
AScT (Saskatchewan), auditors Negar Malek, C.E.T. (Alberta)
and Kai Ma, P.Ag. (Alberta) and auditor-in-training Jason Marshall, C.E.T. (Alberta). The audit team commended the program
for accommodating students in a flexible and responsible manner, with the implementation of "Open Studies". As well, the team
noted program strengths include excellent instructor engagement and availability, dedicated English and technical resources
for the capstone project and strong support from alumni.
"NAIT, the School of Applied Sciences and Technology and
those within our Instrumentation Engineering Technology program, are proud to receive this national accreditation, which reflects the quality of our facilities, faculty and staff," commented
Stewart Cook, Dean. "We now look forward to continuing our
work with TAC and expanding our list of accredited programs."
