In celebration of World Accreditation Day on June 9th, Technology
Accreditation Canada (TAC) announces it will be automating its
accreditation process to provide a more user-friendly experience for
educational institutions and audit team members.
Beginning with the accreditation application, to the self-assessment
package and through to the annual report, the fully automated
forms system will be simplified, easier to complete and eliminate a
significant amount inputting of information multiple times, ultimately
saving time. The streamlined process will allow auditors to assess
the material provided within the self-assessment package and pull
ratings, general comments and interview answers directly into the
audit report. The project to digitize all accreditation forms is well
underway and will be available beginning this August.
"We appreciate the amount of time educational institutions and
auditors require to complete and assess the accreditation process
and the self-assessment package in particular", comments Richard
Stamper, TAC Executive Director. "Automating our process is part of
our continued commitment to offering customers and auditors an
exceptional experience".
Educational accreditation is a type of quality assurance process
under which programs and operations of educational institutions are
evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards
are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted by the
accrediting body.
TAC accreditation is a fair, responsive and transparent audit process
which measures an engineering technology or applied science
program against the profession's national standards using a trained,
skilled audit team. In addition to determining whether a program
meets the standards, the TAC accreditation process provides value
through the identification of best practices and opportunities for
improvement.
TAC has received over 110 accreditation applications and recently
accredited its 38th program. 
