ASET volunteer
outcomes in 2021
In 2021, over 238* ASET volunteers
gave over 2,200* hours of their time
to their community of technology
professionals and their associations.
Here is a snapshot of what they achieved:
Volunteers ensured the education
and work experience of 358 newly
certified and professional members
met the highest professional standards.
25 subject matter experts shared
their knowledge in assessing
applications for certification.
28 mentors matched with mentee
students - young professionals
and/or foreign-trained professionals,
as they navigated their career paths.
During the fall 2021 semester, six volunteers
began to deliver presentations to the next
generation of technology professionals at
four of Alberta's leading polytechnics - NAIT,
SAIT, Red Deer Polytechnic and Lethbridge
College. In total these volunteers delivered
36 virtual presentations to 880 students.
52 volunteers ensured that ASET
protects the public as a self-regulating
professional association, by serving
on the discipline, investigative and title
misuse committees, and the appeal
and practice review boards.
Four volunteers honoured remarkable
technologists, technicians, students,
instructors and employers by selecting
ASET Award and Capstone Project of the
Year recipients.
