In today's competitive economy, companies are always
looking at how to best manage and use their assets effectively. Understanding its employees are one of its most
important resources, Engineered Air has dedicated itself to
giving new employees the tools they need to be successful.
Originally established as a small Calgary-based company,
Engineered Air has grown into an international industryleading manufacturer of HVAC equipment. As a custom
manufacturer, its focus is to employ an integrated sales, design, and manufacturing approach to serve customers. This
holistic methodology is most effective when its employees
understand what goes on beyond their individual departments, and learn how the various arms of the company support the manufacturing of its products.

To help employees gain a better understanding of its operations, Engineered Air developed a company-specific training program aimed at giving new hires a knowledge base
of the various facets within the company. Typically spread
over a year-and-a-half to two years, the training program
exposes new employees to Engineered Air's four manufacturing plants, as well as its design and sales departments.
"Throughout the training program, employees will rotate
through and experience a variety of areas within our business," states Kelly Hajash, Human Resources Coordinator.
"This helps to ensure our employees are well-trained, but
also know their fellow employees' capabilities."
With the company's focus on manufacturing its own equipment, as well as using an in-house sales force, Engineered
Air works with its customers from the initial consultation
to the completion of their projects. Having that control requires a high level of understanding of what the other areas
within the company are capable of. As employees gain experience through the training program, they're also able to
expand their industry knowledge and serve their clients as
best they can.
"Because the equipment we manufacture is project-specific, the program is designed not only to expose our employees to the various departments of sales, design, assembly,
and servicing, it also allows us as a company to place them
in job positions suited to their interests and strengths," adds
Hajash. "The program is often used to help place and promote our employees from within."
