Evolution of the Training Program
With offices throughout North America, Engineered Air is
often hiring new graduates from post-secondary technology institutions like NAIT, SAIT, and RDC. Since its inception,
the training program has continually evolved to match the
generational values of new employees, becoming an important tool for the company to attract and retain staff.
"We're beginning to see a trend in new hires valuing opportunities for training and professional development," notes
Hajash. "I think they're really factoring in their own personal
career aspirations so as not to be limited to one or two areas
of work."
Beyond simply working in different areas of the company,
there is also an emphasis on personalized individual training. There are mentorship opportunities available, allowing
employees to meet regularly with cohorts, mentors, and supervisors to help identify any issues that they may be experiencing. Employees are often given readings to supplement
the hands-on experience they receive, and opportunities to
present to trainers and fellow trainees.

With its ongoing commitment to the in-house training program, Engineered Air has been recognized as a Platinum
Member of Canada's Best Managed Companies, an honour
awarded to companies that maintain their 'Best Managed'
status for seven years or more. EA's success is representative of Alberta companies' ability to recognize the value
of properly trained employees, and the resulting impact on
their products, service, and technical expertise.

The training program is tailored, and as a result, helps to
identify where each new employee will be most successful.
The expertise they build helps them grow within the company, with the program occasionally being used as a launching
pad to promote from within to supervisory positions.
"The investment we put into the program is significant
when you consider our resources of time, salary, and
even short-term productivity," adds Hajash. "But we see
a return in those investments in how the program affects
their long-term productivity and efficiency."
