LiteZone Glass Inc.
makes the insulating
glass units of the future

Innovative new building products
and materials that reduce energy
consumption, last longer and
therefore boast higher energy
efficiency are becoming steadily
more available. To work toward
the energy efficiency ideal of
a net zero or carbon neutral
building, developers need to
consider how each material
contributes to that goal.

Greg Clarahan runs a company that has created a product
he says has the potential to transform how clean technology
homes and buildings are designed and constructed.
Clarahan is the CEO of LiteZone Glass Inc., an Alberta-based
company operating out of a factory in Edmonton's industrial
sector. The company developed and now manufactures the
eponymous LiteZone®, a next generation, award-winning,
ultra energy efficient insulating glass unit (IGU).
LiteZone® insulting glass units make possible extremely
energy efficient and long-lasting windows and curtain walls.
The IGUs are manufactured in Edmonton and are now being
offered as an option by a growing number of fenestration
manufacturers.
"Being from Edmonton, the question for us was 'why not
Edmonton?'" says Clarahan, explaining why the company
operates in the city. "Alberta has an excellent labour force,
all the support services needed and a number of other
advantages. Servicing Western Canada and the US Pacific
Northwest from Edmonton makes sense."
Clarahan says that "eventually we may establish additional
manufacturing facilities in other geographic areas but
for now we can ship LiteZone® from here to anywhere in
Canada or the USA at a reasonable cost relative to the
product value."
