ADAPTATION AND IMPROVEMENT are two key
strengths of technology professionals, and we at Registration
Services are always working diligently to match those
ideals. We've done so recently by implementing a few new
features to help you get the most of your membership.
To start off, we've taken another stride to streamline the
member journey with ASET, from the very first step: application.
To improve the certification application process,
ASET has a new channel for receiving student transcripts.
Students and other applicants can now directly share their
transcripts with ASET via a service called MyCreds™.
The tool is a national, shared service and platform owned by
the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges
of Canada (ARUCC). Created by the colleges and universities,
it gives students and graduates access to something
called a learner credential wallet.
This wallet is secure, online and password protected. Using
it, applicants can view and share verified and official transcripts,
credentials and academic documents in a digitized
format. These materials can be accessed on a 24/7 basis,
anytime, anywhere. The documents themselves are cryptographically
signed, easy to send, and do not require further
verification.
This service was added to expedite the process of transcript
receival, which traditionally takes quite some time.
Now that MyCreds™ is in place, though, that delay should
be reduced, allowing applicants to complete their C.Tech. or
C.E.T. application in a timelier manner.
For those who've already become certified, Registration
Services has launched a specialized process to recognize
your hard-earned credentials. Using this new service, members
can add various certifications and credentials to their
profiles, displaying these qualifications to prospective employers
and other members within the profession.
This feature will both strengthen
public trust and highlight the value
of members to their industries. It's
also a phenomenal way to bring
attention to the commitment
to improvement and increasing
professional competency that defines
certified technology professionals.
These credentials aren't limited to ASET certifications; they
range across academia and industry, and can be added to
a member profile as soon as ASET staff has verified them.
The various certificate offerings from Alberta's polytechnics
like NAIT and SAIT are prime examples of the credentials
that can be added to a member profile. The industrial automation
certificate, roadbuilders certificate, and water and
wastewater technician certificate are just a few great examples
of specialized technology certificates that can be
displayed. The newly developed ASET management certificate
is another feather a member can slide into their cap to
indicate their expertise.
Equally valuable credentials, like the project management
professional designation, can be found at schools and organizations
across Canada and added to one's profile. If you're
interested in adding your specialized credentials and/or
certificates to your online roster, you can find the steps at
aset.ab.ca/specializedcredentials.
Just like our members we adapt and improve. If the past
few years have taught us anything, it's how to do that. You'll
keep on growing with new certifications and other symbols
of hard work, and we'll keep on growing to help you highlight
that work.
