GRHC’S FIRST REGIONAL CONFERENCE AND TRAINING PROGRAM ON JUNE 2ND IS LOADED WITH VALUE AND PUTS YOU IN FRONT OF DECISION-MAKERS By Jennifer Sprout O n June 2nd, 2010 we will be presenting our ﬁrst Regional Conference and Training in Washington, D.C. at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The U.S. federal government is currently pouring billions into greening their facilities in order to manage stormwater more responsibly, and the District of Columbia is aiming to green 20 percent of all roofs by the year 2020 – LIVING ARCHITECTURE MONITOR and using regulations and incentives to get there. Approximately 30 percent of the roofs in D.C. are government owned and operated. Washington is a hot market and getting hotter every day. This regional conference is designed to put manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of green roof and wall systems directly in front of buyers – specifically, government facility managers and regionally based designers and developers– through the tradeshow, luncheon, cocktail reception and tours. Session speakers have been selected to provide the delegates with the latest technical information on making the business case for green roofs and walls; new regulatory developments; best design practices; and how to procure funds for green roofs and walls. We are working with Government Services Administration, the U.S. Environment Protection Agency, Washington D.C. and other local partners to develop an event that will also reinforce the case for additional federal investment WINTER 2010
