2019 ACTIVITIES
APRIL
OSPE signs agreement with Hispanotech, an organization that successfully promotes and helps advance the careers of Hispanic
professionals, based on market demands and trends in the Canadian IT sector. OSPE seeks to work with Hispanotech to advance
international engineering graduates (IEGs) that are seeking opportunities in Canada.
JUNE
OSPE looks at workplace safety clothing offerings through a diversity lens for engineers from all backgrounds, and committee
members begin drafting articles on personal protective equipment to provide an opportunity for community feedback.
SEPTEMBER
OSPE creates a draft survey to collect data and assess the engineering community's diversity dimensions in Ontario and across
Canada, and is currently seeking partners and/or government funding to conduct such a study in order to properly assess the
current lack of diversity or support in STEM.
NOVEMBER
OSPE hosts first Diversity Forum, The EDI Imperative: Changing the Profile of STEAM in Canada

2019 ACTIVITIES
JANUARY
OSPE brings engineers and experts together at a roundtable on green infrastructure in Ontario
OSPE's Infrastructure Task Force invited professional engineers, representatives from the insurance industry, environmental
groups and conservation authorities to come together to share data and discuss findings from the field. The consensus of most
experts at the event helped inform OSPE's position that both green and grey infrastructure projects are needed in Ontario. A
blanket approach cannot be used province-wide to plan, sustain or repair municipal assets.
FEBRUARY
OSPE meets with Minister of Transportation, the Honourable Jeff Yurek to discuss future infrastructure projects and the
priorities of the Ontario government.
