What You Need to
Know About the
Ontario Engineering
Academy

he Ontario Engineering Academy (OEA) serves as a " onestop-shop " for reskilling, upskilling, complimentary
skilling, and discovery, that engineers can turn to at all
stages of their career. The purpose of the OEA is simple: to make
sure there is an institution that engineers will always have at their
back, supporting their growth and making sure they are always
prepared for the job market in all ways.
OEA was founded for the needs of professional development
in the engineering community. The goal was to not only assist
individuals in all aspects of their career but to also help bridge
the gap between academia and industry. There are multiple ways
OEA accomplishes this. Through our state-of-the-art professional
competency courses, our Journey to P.Eng. program, certifications,
bite-sized learning opportunities, and career services.
The Journey to P.Eng. program provides individuals with
the opportunity to receive support in all stages of the licensure
process - from their initial application to Professional Engineers
Ontario (PEO), to the submission of their experience record.
We have partners on board with years of industry experience -
each of whom are equipped to provide individuals with a wealth
of knowledge. OEA's popular National Professional Practice
Exam preparatory course offers a 98% success rate within our
membership by providing users with live instruction, as well as
on-demand videos, giving them the chance to steer their own
learning, on their own time.
The Ontario Engineering Academy's mission is to provide
lifelong learning opportunities that provide real value to our
engineering community. We at OSPE understand the difficulties
an engineering individual can face in the workplace, which is why
we have partnered with industry's most innovative organizations
to provide certifications and micro credential programs.
Our most popular offering is the Project Engineering Certificate
program. This multiday learning opportunity covers fundamentals
and principles required to fill a project engineering position. It
prepares you for a dynamic role that perfectly acts as an interface
between the technical disciplines and the project manager. As
a certified Project Engineer, you will have the ability to manage
development of the engineering product, lead the technical team
and effectively establish communication channels between the
project manager and the client.
In addition to longer multiday programs, the Ontario
Engineering Academy offers bite-sized learning opportunities
in the form of instructor-lead virtual sessions. These are free for

OSPE members with a goal of providing continuous and accessible
knowledge for the greater engineering community.
These sessions are 1-2 hours in length and surround topics
in Professional Competency, Technology and Core Engineering
principles. Specific topics include 5G innovation, the industrial
application of power systems, personal branding, and more.
The Ontario Engineering Academy understands that our
community is comprised of individuals who are all in different
stages of their careers, so alongside opportunities in lifelong
learning, the OEA makes it its mission to provide value for both
new graduates and more experienced individuals who are looking
to make a change in their careers. COVID-19 has changed plans for
all of us, but the OEA has made sure that our community is ready
to adapt to these uncertain times. By offering eight different job
search workshops, individuals have all the tools at their disposal,
whether they are looking for their first job - or just thinking of
making a change.
